This privacy policy outlines how SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building uses and protects your and your children’s information. Any information that we request from you is only used in accordance with this Privacy and Cookie Policy. You can rest assured that your and your children’s privacy and information are well protected. This policy may be updated from time to time. In such an event an alert will be displayed on the website link.

Please read this Privacy and Cookie Policy carefully. By subscribing to or using SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building’s products or services, you agree to have your information handled in accordance with this Privacy and Cookie Policy.

The information that we collect

We collect the following information for internal subscription management purposes, record keeping, occasional market research, and newsletters outlining special offers and new products:

  • Contact information, more specifically an email address
  • Payment information is collected through a third-party payment gateway. We do not store any credit card information in our database.

We collect the information below for the purposes of customising and personalising the application and products to each individual child, as well as to create personalised books around the individual child:

  • Your child/ren’s full names
  • Your children/s ages
  • Various personal details about your children, such as their nicknames, their favourite toys, food, and activities, etc.

No information of any kind is collected directly from children at any point.

We NEVER monetise any of the personal information that we collect. All personal information is used strictly as outlined. Furthermore, parents/guardians are in full control of their child/ren’s information and can input/upload only what they are comfortable with and are able to delete any/all information at any point without any form of repercussion.

In addition to this, SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building works to keep your personal information safe by taking reasonable security measures in the areas of electronic, administration, technical, and even physical.

Additional measures to protect children

Additional steps are taken to protect all children using the SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building program and application. There is no possibility of interaction or chat with anyone else. All external links are either located in the Parent Dashboard which is password protected and requires an adult to enter a password.

Accessing, changing or deleting personal information and account cancellation and reactivation

Parents/guardians can access all their and their child/ren’s personal information that has been uploaded onto the SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building’s website and application in the Parent Dashboard. In this password protected area they are able to change or delete any information as may be required.

Within 48 hours of deletion, all personal information relating directly to any child/ren is completely deleted and is unrecoverable. Information required for business purposes, such as account recovery and legal requirements as well as de-identified data may be archived for a period of time. For the full duration of this time all retained data remains subject to our Privacy and Cookie Policy.

Should a parent cancel their account in the Parent Dashboard (which can be done at any time) without having deleted their child/ren’s personal information, this information is kept on record in case the parent chooses to re-activate the account. If the account remains inactive for 24 months, personal information is deleted as described above. Should a parent request the deletion of their child/ren’s personal information prior to the end of this 24 month period SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building will undertake the requested deletion process which will be fully effected within a 48 hour period.

Location of personal information storage and processing

SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building operates from Johannesburg, South Africa. Your personal information may be stored and processed in any country in which we or our service providers operate. Please be aware that some or possibly all of these countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country.

The cookies we collect and what we do with them

SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building together, our contractors, and external service providers use cookies and other technologies that collect technical information from your device. This occurs over a period of time and over a range of websites. The information collected includes but is not limited to, your IP address, the general geolocation of your device, your browser, your type of device, and your operating system.

Cookies are little files that request permission to be placed on your computer. If you agree the cookie is installed on your hard drive and begins its work. What cookies normally do is collect information on your personal preferences which allows web applications to customise and personalise your experience. Disclosing information to third parties

SwimLife (Pty) Ltd, t/a Brain Building will only disclose your personal information on request from law enforcement officials, courts or government officials should the laws of that country require it, and/or to third parties who provide a very specific service to us such as processing credit card payments and undertaking research. In such an event these service providers would have had to first agree to keep all personal information confidential and to only use this information for the purposes outlined in this document.

Privacy policy changes

Should it be necessary for us to make any changes to this Privacy and Cookie Policy, we will either notify you by placing an alert next to the link to the policy in the Parent Dashboard and/or through email communication.
